Simple translation
As emperumAn appeared as narasihma joining the fearsome lion form and human form to fit well, he tore the enemy, hiraNya’s chest into two in the battle to make the whole of dhEvalOkam tremble seeing the fury that he [emperumAn] had; because of that act, his divine nail became curved; I got to see such emperumAn in thirukkaNNapuram which is having the surroundings where the tall, beautiful ear of reddish paddy crops remained strong even after being cut.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
uLaindha … – The lion which will make the enemies die just on seeing it, with the mane, and the human form – in this manner emperumAn appeared joining the two contrasting forms; seeing the fury he had at that time, the celestial abode which is protected by him, became frightened thinking “How is this going to end?” vERROn – hiraNya, the enemy; emperumAn is the one who is having his divine nail curved due to tearing hiraNya’s chest in the battle.
perum thaN … – Having surroundings which remain the same even after the tall, beautiful ears of the reddish paddy crops were cut, like cutting diamond.
