Word-by-Word Meanings
nAdum – those, who are without distinguished knowledge
nagaramum – those, who are with distinguished knowledge
aRiya – to know that “He is an eminent person”
nAttu mAnida pEr ittu – keeping the name of lowly people
kUdi – being together with them
azhungi – suffering
kuzhiyil vIzhndhu – falling into the deep pit, into which they had fallen
vazhukkAdhE – instead of getting into sorrow
sAdu – SakatAsuran [a monster sent by kamsan, to kill infant krishNa]
iRa – to snap
pAyndha thalaivA enRu – saying “Oh, one who has the eminence of killing him!”
dhAmOdharA enRu – saying “Oh, dhAmOdhara!”
nAdumin – go behind him, praising him
nAraNan – nArAyaNan
tham annai – the mother of that child
naragam pugAL – will not enter hell
Simple Translation
Do not name your child after a person, who is known as being eminent by those who have distinguished knowledge or who do not have such distinguished knowledge and slip into the same pit in which that person has slipped into, by being with him and suffering. Instead, name your child after one, who killed the monster SakatAsuran, by calling him as “Oh one, who killed that SakatAsuran and became eminent!” and as “Oh, dhAmOdhara!” Go behind such emperumAn, praising him. The mother of that child will not enter narakam.

nAdu … – Do not live and steep thoroughly with those, who are known as “He is a distinguished person” by those, who may have and who may not have any distinguished knowledge; do not name your child after such people; do not slip into the same pit, which those people had fallen into, slipping further down; do not suffer on all these accounts.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that nAdu refers to those, who do not have distinguished knowledge and nagaram refers to those, who have distinguished knowledge. Even when these people come and tell you that the person, after whom you are naming your child, is not great, and tell you to desist from that, without respecting their words, if you keep the name of lowly people, being together with them, steeped fully, falling into the same pit where they have fallen and slipping down further …
sAdiRa … – keep the divine name of sarvESvaran for your child. Call him as “Oh, thalaivA, who killed the monster SakatAsuran! Oh, dhAmOdhara!” Praise him to the satisfaction of your mouth and go behind him.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here additionally that after keeping the divine name of emperumAn, think that this is your strength.
nAraNan tham annai naragam pugAL – thus, the mother of the child will not come under the control of yama and will not enter narakam [hell]
