maNNil piRandhu – being formed from earth

Simple Translation
The physical form of a person is formed from earth and at the end of the life, the form [after cremation] returns to earth. Oh, people without any intelligence, who are keeping the names of such people for your children, without any concern about birth in future! Approach and keep the divine name of the one, who has a dark form, which is sweet for the eyes, which is like the dark cloud. The mother of the child, with the divine name of nArAyaNan, will not enter narakam.

maNNil piRandhu – While the physical form of a human being is composed of five elements, namely sky, fire, air, water and earth, as mentioned in periya thirumozhi 1.9.6 “maNNAy nIr eri kAl manjulAvum AkAsamumAm puNNAr Akkai” (In the body, resembling a wound, composed of earth, water, fire, air and sky), since it is earth which is present to a great extent, AzhwAr mercifully mentions earth as the element from which the physical form is created.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, additionally says that since the person is formed from the reproductive fluid which is considered as a part of earth, AzhwAr says that the human form is created from earth.
maNNAgum – When the physical form decays, just as effect merges with the cause, the physical form goes back to earth. Keeping that in mind, AzhwAr mercifully says this.
mAnidap pEr ittu – thus, keeping the name of a lowly human being, who forms from earth and who returns to earth, in this manner. AzhwAr says here about the wicked, evanescent and lowly nature of the physical form, wondering about the reason for naming a child after one, who has such a form.
angu eNNam onRu inRi irukkum Ezhai manisargAL – Oh, people, who are without any knowledge and who are not concerned about that matter! [here, the reference is to the birth in future and what needs to be done in this birth in order to get a better birth next time so that one could reach emperumAn ultimately]. In other words, if one has indulged in a wrongful act, then one should later be concerned about it, thinking “What an act have we indulged in”, regretting it. Instead of that, being without any worry is the result of lack of knowledge.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that people are not contemplating about benefits which are seen and unseen [benefits in this birth, which are evident to the eyes and benefits in the next birth, which are yet to be seen] with others, and remain without any worry, indulging in worldly pursuits.
kaNNukku … – Meditate forever, with the divine name of one, who is such that one has to keep looking at him constantly, having the form of a dark cloud which is pleasing to the eyes. In other words, keep his divine name for your child, keep calling the child with that divine name and engage with that divine name.
nAraNan tham annai naragam pugAL – thus, the mother of the child will not come under the control of yama and will not enter narakam [hell]
