Oh one who is eternally residing in the dhivyadhESam named thiruviNNagar! I, the servitor, am having firm faith on your matters and am affectionately having a mind with constant remembrance instead of thinking about those who got killed, like a huge tree being pushed down by strong, big elephant which is present in the cruel forest which is having trees which have withered naturally. When are you planning to give paramapadham for me?
Highlights from vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
muLindhIyndha … – In the desert land (forest) which is having short trees like vAgai, veNdu which wither due to the heat of the earth and get burnt.
mUrip perum kaLiRRAl – Some entities will be born and die immediately; other entities remain for a long time and will die due to exhaustion of their karma. Lowly entities like small insects etc will die soon after their birth; but indhra et al (brahmA et al) will live for a long time and then will die; this is the nature of samsAram. Hence, instead of remaining here and thinking “some entities lived for long and then died, some died as soon as they were born”.
aLindhu Orndha … – Having clarity towards you, having affection and having desire which is alert at all times towards you, for me who is not having any other refuge, when are you planning to grant mOksham where there is no return to samsAram?
thiruviNNagarAnE – For you, who have arrived here to transport me to there, it will be known when you are planning to do so.
Instead of a mango tree in a barren land, which gets pushed and knocked down by a heavier entity, instead of thinking about those who live in samsAram and die, having affection towards your highness and be alert and being clear to always desire you. For such me, when are you planning to grant liberation where there is no return? You have arrived to grant me that.
In the next article we will enjoy the next pAsuram.
