Oh lord, who is residing in thirukkaNNapuram! You have the ocean, sky, mountains and seven worlds placed in you as a garland; I don’t consider even a little bit, in my mind, the principle of other dhEvathAs existing, coming and saying “I am the goal”.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
peru nIrum … – During deluge, all of ocean, sky, anchoring mountains, seven worlds.
oru thArA – As a garland.
ninnuL odukkiya – You are free from any distress, as if you have swallowed a flower.
Alternative explanation:
oru thArA – Oh you, who are standing, wearing a unique garland to show your protectorship! Other than you, who have placed all of these in your stomach and protected.
varu dhEvar … – While entering your stomach during the deluge and coming out when you let them out, I have not known any dhEvathA who comes saying “I am the refuge”.
iRaiyum – I don’t even consider them for the sake of rejecting them.
kaNNapuRaththuRai ammAnE – While you are eliminating the danger of praLayam and now coming and being present, showing that you are the refuge, how can I consider anyone else as refuge? You are standing in here (thirukkaNNapuram) to eliminate the deluge of samsAra.
