Simple translation
thiruvazhundhUr is having fertile fields where blue-lily flowers which are grown in-between the paddy crops show the eyes of the women of that town, red-lily flowers which are grown in water show their mouth and lotus flowers with petals show their face. Being the king of thirumangai where cuckoos are singing from the bushes of the creepers, AzhwAr who is like the deity of death for enemies, composed ten pAsurams which are filled with good words, which are done in thamizh language and which look like a garland of words, on bhagavAn who is mercifully present in thiruvazhundhUr. For those who recite these pAsurams, their sins will not stay with them.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
nellil … – The kuvaLai (blue-lily) flowers, which sprouted as weeds for paddy crops, show the eyes of the women of the town. The red-lily which sprouted in the water bodies, show their lips.
allik kamalam … – Lotus flowers, with many petals, show their face.
kazhani azhundhUr ninRAnai – It will be difficult to differentiate between the fertile fields and the town.
vallip podhumbinil … – In the bushes where flower-creepers are abundant, cuckoos will sing just like mukthAthmAs sing sAma gAnam. AzhwAr, who is the king of the residents of such thirumangai, is the vanquisher of enemies.
sollil podhindha … – As one recites these thamizh garlands which are filled with words.
pAvam nillAvE – As one recites these pAsurams which are so enjoyable that even if they cause sins, one cannot avoid singing them, their sins will leave on their own.
