Simple translation

chakravarthith thirumagan`, who is wearing a ring, drew his bow to pierce through the seven huge ebony trees, caused bewilderment to lankA; his grace, which was mercifully given by him and the end of the daytime are leaving; alas! Oh friend! What can we do for this? There is no companion for us. The sun too immersed into the ocean where he was seen and disappeared. The sandhyA (dusk time) which will destroy the prANan which is having the desire to live, has come and is appearing.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

Ezhu mA maram thuLai pada – He is the one who performs acts to make others have faith in him; but he is not helping me, who has faith in him and desires for him.

ilangai … – He made the residents of lankA to become so bewildered that seven people will end up sharing one person’s clothes.

AzhiyAn – It appears that the only ornament which escaped kaikEyi’s boon, is that ring in his hand.

namakku aruLiya – Along with the grace he mercifully gave us, the daytime which is a reflection of his grace, also left. Just as the grace leaves, light will also go.

thOzhi nAm idhaRku en seydhum – Should both of us, who are helpless, protect ourselves?

thuNai illai – If bhagavAn were there, he could save us [but he is also not present].

sudar padu mudhu nIr … – The sun immersed into the ocean where he appeared and set; having lost the sun, who is the pacifier, the prANans (vital airs) had the desire to live. At that time, the unique sandhyA arrived and set out to destroy those vital airs.
