Oh one who is eternally residing in the dhivyadhESam named thiruviNNagar! You are the one who is having ocean which is having dark complexion like that of black pigment, earth, great mountains, the two luminous entities named moon and sun which are having the beauty of radiance, as your subordinates. I realised you truly with my heart to become uplifted. Now, I will not consider any entity other than you as dhEvathA who can be a refuge.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
mai … – The ocean which looks like an imitation of sarvESvaran’s divine form, which appears beautiful like black pigment, the earth which is having such ocean as the fence, the anchoring mountains which appear to be nailing down the earth, the moon and sun which appear to be a pair of lamps which are lighting up these entities.
ivaiyAya – You, who are having the universe as your body, in this manner
nenju … – With my heart, I, who was as good as non-existing as said in thaiththirIya upanishath “asannEva” (as good as asath), started following you to become uplifted in the manner as said in “For this AthmA, you are the lord; this AthmA is completely subservient towards you”.
ini yAdhum maRROr … – As one should think about an aspect in truth only and not in any other manner, I did not consider anyone else as refuge.
thiruviNNagarAnE – In this manner, other than you, who are present in thiruviNNagar, I don’t even know the supreme lord (in any other state as in SrIvaikuNtam etc).
