vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

vAyuL vaiyagam kaNda mada nallAr – the women folk in the clan of herd-people, who had the qualities of obedience and simplicity, who saw several worlds displayed by infant krishNa in his divine mouth. In the previous pAsuram, it was mentioned that only one person [yaSOdhA] had seen several worlds inside infant krishNa’s divine mouth. However, in this pAsuram, since it is clearly mentioned in plural number [mada nallAr], it is evident that several women among the herd-folk, apart from yaSOdhA, had seen those worlds inside his divine mouth. In other words, after seeing several worlds inside his divine mouth, yaSOdhA would have called the women in her proximity to share with them the amazing sight that she had seen. In order to make others too to know of his greatness, he would have granted them too, the divine vision to see the worlds inside his divine mouth.

Ayar puththiran allan arum dheyvam – he is not the son of SrI nandhagOpar, the head of herd-clan. He is the most-difficult-to-attain sarvESvaran [lord of all].

pAya sIrudai paNbudaip pAlagan – he is a little boy with many auspicious qualities, and is simplicity personified. By manifesting the worlds inside his divine mouth, he revealed his auspicious qualities and by showing it to the simple herd-folk women, he displayed his quality of simplicity too.

mAyan – one with amazing activities

enRu magizhndhanar – the herd-women shared their happiness with each other, in this manner. They were happy that since he has amazing activities [mAyan], he will be the cause for us to get liberated from this world.

The pAsuram should be rearranged as vAyuL vaiyagam kaNda mada nallArAna-mAdhar-pAya sIruaip paNbudaip pAlagan-Ayar puththiran allan arum dheyvam-mAyan enRu magizhndhanar to get the sequential meaning.

We shall next consider the 8th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
