Simple translation
To have the materials for the yAgam remain well with the wealth of dhEvathAs, the brAhmaNas, who are practitioners of vEdham during the sandhyA times, offered freshly melted ghee in the beautiful fire; oh one, who is the meaning of praNavam which is in the form of sweet svaram in the vEdham of such brAhmaNas! Oh one, who ruled me (even in the past)! Oh one, who is eternally residing in the dhivyadhESam named thiruviNNagar! If you can bestow the unconditional grace to have me worship you, please do so. I don’t desire to be present in this samsAram.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
urukkuRu … – Using melted, fresh ghee, in the fire, brAhmaNas who are engaged in vEdha adhyayanam, during every sandhyA time.
perukkam … – As said in SrI bhagavath gIthA 3.11 “parasparam bhAvayantha: SrEya: param avApsyatha ||” (By being helpful in this manner to each other, [you] will attain the great benefit of liberation), to make the dhEvathAs provide abundance of tools for the yAgam along with wealth, brAhmaNas are offering the havis (offering); the vEdhams of such brAhmaNas have sweet meter, that is praNavam in the form of svaram. Oh one who is revealed by such praNavam!
As said in “sAhiSrIramruthAsadhAm” – brAhmaNas are said to be those who have the wealth of vEdham. praNavam is said as svaram. As said in thaiththirIya upanishath nArAyaNavalli 10 “yath vEdhAdhau svara: prOktha: vEdhAnthE cha prathishtitha: l thasya prakruthi leenasya ya: para: sa mahEsvara: ll” (sarvESvaran (lord of all) is the meaning of akAram (the syllable ‘a’ which is the causative factor for OnkAram, which is recited at the beginning and end of vEdham). Is praNavam speaking about parasvarUpam (bhagavAn’s true nature)? Or is it also speaking about Athma svarUpam (jIvAthmA’s true nature)? It is speaking about both as said in thaiththirIya upanishath nArAyaNavalli 5-1 “OmithyAthmAnam yunjItha” (one should meditate on AthmA, by reciting the praNava manthram, Om) as well as in the vEdhic saying “OnkArO bhagavAn vishNu” (vishNu is identified by the manthram Om).
