Simple translation

Oh our benefactor who showed magnanimity towards dhEvathAs, churned the ocean where the waves were agitating, saw rudhra swallow the poison which came out of the ocean, and as the dhEvathAs were drinking the nectar, you enjoyed periya pirAttiyAr (SrI mahAlakshmi) who came out of that nectar! Oh one who ruled me (even in the past)! Oh one who is residing permanently in the dhivyadhESam named thiruviNNagar! If you can bestow the unconditional grace to have me worship you, please do so. I don’t desire to be present in this samsAram.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

aNNal … – Showing magnanimity; showing ownership; churned the greatly agitated ocean.

adhanuL – nanjai – kaNNudhal – uNNak kaNdavanE – Oh one who ensured that the dhEvathAs did not consume the poison which came out of that ocean and got killed by that!

viNNavar … – As the dhEvathAs consumed the nectar and got uplifted, you attained periya pirAttiyAr who made that nectar to be like pulp, and in that manner you helped your devotees! Isn’t whatever favour is done towards the mother (SrI mahAlakshmi), a favour for the children [devotees] too?

ANdAy … – If you are going to bless me by granting me the sight of your togetherness with her, I will not desire for this life in samsAra which was nurtured by the dhEvathAs through you.

In the next article we will enjoy the next pAsuram.
