As the dhEvathAs and devotees earn and bring the garland strung with very fragrant flowers from which beetles are drinking honey, and surrender unto the divine feet of sarvESvaran praying “You should mercifully eliminate our ancient sins, you captured the vast earth along with the higher worlds, remaining as the alms-seeker in the sacrificial arena. Oh such sarvESvaran!” Oh one who ruled me (even in the past)! Oh one who is residing permanently in the dhivyadhESam named thiruviNNagar! If you can bestow the unconditional grace to have me worship you, please do so. I don’t desire to be present in this samsAram.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

vaNduNum … – Bringing fresh flower garland.

paNdai … – As the dhEvathAs and devotees who are dear towards his divine feet surrender unto him as said in vishNu dharmam “sangaissurANAm …” (groups of dhEvas from the heavenly planets, groups of humans from earth, dwellers from celestial vehicles in the sky, glorified thrivikrama. Let such thrivikrama who measured the world be there for my auspiciousness), and prayed “You should eliminate all our past sins”.

ninRu … – Standing as the alms-seeker. Oh one who remained in the place where you received the alms and captured the higher worlds along with the vast earth!

ANdAy – While I was attached to worldly pleasures and was ignoring you, you protected my sustenance and brought me up to this stage!

unnai … – If you would like to enjoy the result of protecting my sustenance since eternity, you should shower your mercy towards me.

vENdEn … – Don’t think “AzhwAr is still not free from attachment towards samsAram”. You should mercifully consider that I don’t have taste towards worldly attachments.
