kaNNapuraththuRai ammAnE – Oh lord, who is residing in thirukkaNNapuram!

kAththipOl – it appears that you will be protecting.
Simple translation
Oh lord, who is residing in thirukkaNNapuram! There are those who praise your divine feet and consider performing eternal kainkaryam to you. It appears that your highness is protecting such devotees from yama’s servitors who look out for the time of their death, and ensure that they say “sOththam” (sthOthram, praises) and say, “We are scared”, and don’t touch such devotees.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
Eththi … – Those who praise your divine feet and remain with the desire as said in thiruvAimozhi 3.3.1 “vazhuvilA adimai seyya vENdunAm” (We should perform all types of services without leaving anything).
pArththirundhu – Waiting for the end of their lives when they leave their physical forms. At the time of final moments, ensure that yama’s servitors don’t come close to them.
sOththa nAm anjudhum enRu – These words are said by them [yams’s servitors] when they see favourable persons. As said in nAnmugan thiruvandhAdhi 68 “iRainjiyum sAdhuvarAyppOmingal” (bowing at them, behaving like a sAdhu (noble/saintly person)), as said in “If we see them, we won’t come close to them”, your nature is such that they will go away from the devotees.
kaNNapuraththuRai ammAnE – Haven’t you arrived and aren’t you residing here in thirukkaNNapuram, only to analyse such situations and protect?
