AzhwAr humbly informed bhagavAn the distaste he has towards samsAram; even after doing that he did not see bhagavAn rushing towards him and eliminate that samsAram for him; since he did not see that, he thought that bhagavAn is thinking “Since time immemorial we have enjoyed this samsAram and stayed away from him; even now we are having taste based on past memories and staying away from him”; he thought “I should remind him about my past state [of being engaged in samsAram] and make him, who is sarvagya (omniscient), understand that I have no taste towards those and he should show me a quick means to attain him”; for that, he is humbly informing bhagavAn as to how he has been in samsAram since time immemorial, how he went into sequence of many births in that samsAram, how he went desirously behind wealth and lust, how he was bound by his senses, how he is fearing now the hell which is about to come and is surrendering unto the divine feet of bhagavAn saying “I cannot eliminate these; don’t see my defects; you should see my natural relationship with you and mercifully accept me with the help of pirAtti’s purushakAram (recommendation)”.
