Simple translation
I came and was born in this samsAra due to a reason in this vast ocean of samsAram where wise people try to eliminate their attachments; after being born, I attained sarvESvaran who is mercifully residing in thiruvAli which is surrounded by fertile fields which are having perennial abundance of water; I attained that result, not having to take a birth again.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kaRRAr … – Wise people [like nammAzhwAr] say, as in thiruviruththam 1 “inninRa nIrmai ini yAm uRAmai” (I cannot tolerate this lowliness here anymore) and try to eliminate this samsAram, which is like a vast ocean, where just like wave after wave will take a particle and push, I went from one birth to another as said in thiruvAimozhi 2.6.8 “mARi mARip pala piRappum piRandhu” (Taking birth after birth); as I was continuously taking birth here in this manner, since he came and presented himself in this samsAram where I am born, I attained him.
vaRRA nIr … – I attained sarvESvaran who is present in thiruvAli, which is surrounded by fertile fields which have perennial water.
peRRadhuvum – That result.
piRavAmai peRREn – I got the result in such a manner that I won’t have any hurdle, that is, without another birth in samsAram. Alternative explanation – I got this result when I have nothing good in me to deserve such result. Another explanation – I got the result in such a manner that I don’t even have the gratitude for that. When one feels grateful, one will worry about doing something in return. To not have such a worry, he favoured me such that I remained “This is just naturally apt for me”.
