Saying “Oh one who is having divine hands which at once severed the ear and creeper like nose of sUrpaNakA, who is having a form where her tooth is growing vertically upwards and is radiantly shining like lightning and from whom one has to move away instead of standing in front of her!” and remaining firm, the fortunate ones praise the divine feet of bhagavAn who is present in the cool thiruchchERai where beetles, which are having flower buds on them are humming, and proffer flowers and water. They are more opulent than nithyasUris.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
mIdhOdi … – Her radiant teeth which are rising vertically and shining.
min ilaga – shining like lightning
mun vilagum … – Just as one cannot stare at lightning, she is having a form which will scare everyone.
Alternative explanation.
mIdhu … – As the risen teeth are shining like lightning.
mun vilagum … – The form which is roaming around in front.
kAdhOdu kodi mUkku … – Oh, one who severed the limbs which were presented as those of pirAtti’s! It is said in SrI rAmAyaNam AraNya kANdam 34.14 “rAmasya dhakshiNO bAhu:” (lakshmaNa is the right hand of SrI rAma).
thAdhOdi … – Praising the divine feet of the one who is mercifully present in thiruchchERai where beetles which are having flower buds drank the honey and are humming.
pOdhOdu punal thUvum puNNiyarE – Those who are greatly fortunate to worship bhagavAn with flowers and water. They are more opulent than nithyasUris who worship bhagavAn as said in thiruviruththam 21 “sUttu nanmAlaigaL thUyana Endhi” (Holding the best garlands which are pure). Those who worship bhagavAn being in paramapadham cannot be a match for those who worship him being here in samsAram itself.
