kaNNan, the supreme entity, killed the mahout who was controlling elephant kuvalayApIdam, which had huge trunk and which was in rut. He snapped the tusks of kuvalayApIdam and ran with them. Look at that kaNNan’s divine waist, which is decorated with closely strung chain of coral, excellent waist-cord and pearl chain. Oh women, who have splendorous foreheads! Come and have a look.

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

irungai … – killing the mahout, who had under his control the elephant kuvalayApIdam, which had huge trunk and which was rutting. parungudhal – to kill

paRiththu … – supreme entity who snapped the tusks of that elephant and ran towards king kamsan, who was sitting on a high land and jumped before him. Alternatively, the herd-boys who were playing in thiruvAyppAdi made an elephant doll with the materials which they had and were roaming around, saying that it was a huge elephant. krishNa, the supreme entity, controlled them and ran with the tusks of that elephant doll.

nerungu … – look at his divine waist which is decorated with densely strung coral chain, with golden waist cord and with a pearl chain.

vANudhaleer vandhu kANIrE – oh, you women, who have radiant foreheads! Come and have a look at his divine waist. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says in his svApadhESam that the term vANudhaleer refers to the radiance of mind control of those who have surrendered.
