Simple Translation
Thinking of the cruel activities indulged in by the messengers of yama, at the time of death, those, who become devotees of emperumAn and then die, will get benefits. periyAzhwAr, who is the controller of SrI villibuththUr and who has strong shoulders which have defeated samsAram, has composed these ten pAsurams on SrIya:pathi, keeping his three faculties [of mind, speech and action] in congruence, into garlands of words. Those, who are capable of reciting these ten pAsurams, will have their minds, focussed on emperumAn, like AzhwAr.
vyAkhyAnam
seththuppOvadhu Or pOdhu – seyyum seygaigaL – ninaindhu – thinking of the [cruel] activities, indulged in, by the messengers of yama, at the time of last moments in one’s life
dhEva pirAn mEl paththarAy – developing affection [devotion] towards the lord of nithyasUris, who do not have any ennui
iRandhAr peRum pERRai – those who derive benefits, after becoming followers of emperumAn and then dying
pAzhiththOL vittuchiththan – AzhwAr, who has shoulders which have the strength of defeating samsAram
puththUrk kOn – unlike those persons, who develop devotion towards emperumAn in their last moments, AzhwAr is one, who has his mind focussed always on emperumAn, like nithyasUris. People, living in SrI villibuththUr, have such periyAzhwAr as their lord. periyAzhwAr is the controller of such SrI villibuththUr
chiththam nangu …– [just as we have seen in the first pAsuram] Asai vAych chenRa sindhaiyAr Agi – all three faculties would go towards worldly pursuits, or they would be equally divided between worldly pursuits and emperumAn. Unlike this, AzhwAr had his mind fully focussed on emperumAn. Those, who recite these ten pAsurams, composed on SrIya:pathi, by periyAzhwAr
chiththam nangu orungith thirumAl mEl senRa sindhai peRuvar thAmE – these people, with their three faculties, will have their minds, fully focussed on emperumAn, just like periyAzhwAr .
We shall next consider the pravEsam of the next thirumozhi.
