Highlights from avathArikai (Introduction)
She is saying – if you go there (to bhagavAn), there is pirAtti who will make bhagavAn look at youi and acknowledge you. He is the vanquisher of enemies; he always helps us in dangerous times. He is such beautiful that we cannot abandon him even if he does not help us. Hence you go to him and then come here and blow the fragrance on me.

emperumAn, who is mercifully present in thirukkaNNapuram, is having periya pirAttiyAr on his divine chest, is holding the divine chakra on his right divine hand, broke the earth from the wall of the oval shaped universe and is having eminence due to that. He is having a supremely radiant form and is having a beautiful form which has the complexion similar to a kAyAm pU (a dark coloured flower) which is the abode of black colour. Oh, dragonfly which is present on a pole! Immerse in such emperumAn’s garland, which is present on his shining, divine crown and is having fragrant thiruththuzhAy, and blow its fragrance on me.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
mArvil thiruvan – periya pirAttiyAr will mercifully remain on his divine chest and when out of his freewill, finds fault in the AthmAs and angrily abandons them, she will pacify him using her noble qualities and unite the AthmAs with him.
valan Endhu chakkaraththan – He is not holding the divine chakra in his hand based on her instructions. He is as said in periya thiruvandhAdhi 87 “eppOdhum kai kazhalA nEmiyAn” (emperumAn, from whose hands the divine disc will not separate at any time).
pAraip piLandha paraman – Earth, which entered into the wall of the oval shaped universe and lost its shape, was not abandoned by bhagavAn. Instead, he assumed a form which is apt to dig out the earth from there, rescued earth and came out. In this manner, if one were to start counting those who protect, there will be none, who could be counted, after him.
param jOdhi – One who is the ultimate goal for everyone.
kAril thigazh kAyA vaNNan – Even if he is not the goal, his beauty is such that he cannot be abandoned. The darkness is fully said to be the greatness of his form (and the flower). The fragrance is fully said to be the greatness for him.
kadhir … – You should immerse in the fresh thiruththuzhAy on his divine crown which reveals his supremacy over everyone, and come here to blow that fragrance on me.
