After enjoying krishNa’s divine waist, AzhwAr enjoys his divine navel.

vandha madhalaik kuzhAththai vali seydhu
thandhak kaLiRu pOl thanE viLaiyAdum
nandhan madhalaikku nanRum azhagiya
undhi irundhavA kANIrE oLi izhaiyIr! vandhu kANIrE

Word-by-Word Meanings

vandha – those who came to play with him
madhalai kuzhAththi – group of little children
vali seydhu – forcing (himself) on them
thandha kaLiRu pOl – like a little elephant which has (converging) tusk
thanE – he himself (as the primary person)
viLaiyAdum – one who played
nandhan madhalaikku – for kaNNan, nandhagOpar’s son

undhi – divine navel

Simple Translation

kaNNan, the son of SrI nandhagOpar, forces himself on the group of children who come to play with him, to assert that he is the best among them. Look at his divine navel. Oh, women, who have decorated yourselves with radiant ornaments! Come and have a look at his divine navel.

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

vandha … – when a group of children came to play with him [krishNa], just as it has been said in periyAzhwAr thirumozhi 3-1-1 “thannErAyiram piLLaigaLOdu” (along with a thousand children [in thiruvAyappAdi] who are like he is), even as he is as child-like they are, he will make them all to be on one side while he alone will be on the other side, and win against them by force, just like a young elephant will break tree branches. He wanted to dominate over all the other children.

nandhan … – even while he will roam around like this [in a dominant fashion], in the presence of SrI nandhagOpar, he would behave like a very obedient child.

nanRum … – look at his very beautiful divine navel. Oh women, who are having splendorous ornaments! Come and have a look at his divine navel.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that the term oLi izhai [shiny ornaments] refers to Athma bhUshaNam [ornament for the soul, such as bliss, knowledge, being a servitor to emperumAn etc].

We shall next consider the 9th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
