vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

peru mA … – even as he was tied down to a huge mortar, krishNa crawled in that state itself and went in between two marudham trees, which had united to kill him. When he went between the two trees, with the mortar, the two trees snapped and fell down. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says in his svApadhESam that krishNa gave an understanding smile after seeing the twin marudha trees snapping and falling down [two demons had pervaded the trees and were planning to kill krishNa]. yaSOdhAp pirAtti points out to such krishNa and says “ippiLLai” (this child). Such krishNa’s …

kuru mA … – look at his divine chest on which the eminent, renowned SrI kausthubam ornament is swaying [SrI kausthubam is symbolic of all the jIvAthmAs]. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says that SrI kausthubam ornament is a bluish gemstone. He further says that whatever ornament is worn by krishNa, will shine in blue colour due to the rays from his bluish divine form.

sEyizhaiyIr vandhu mANIrE – Oh those who are wearing reddish ornaments! Come and have a look at his divine chest. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the term sEyizhai refers to ornament of the soul which is full of devotion [towards emperumAn].

We shall next consider the 11th pAsuram of this thirumozhi.
