Simple translation
Oh one who is having bodily complexion like the (dark) complexion of his divine hair! Oh you from whom rudhra took a portion of your divine form and kept as his residence, and who [referring to emperumAn] entered in the very cruel arrow which is in the form of fire and was launched by rudhra whose complexion is like the complexion of the fire, to destroy the thripura (three towns), launched the big mountain like bow. Oh one who ruled me (even in the past)! Oh one who is eternally residing in the dhivyadhESam named thiruviNNagar! If you can bestow the unconditional grace to have me worship you, please do so. I don’t desire to be present in this samsAram.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kuzhal niRa vaNNa … – Oh one who is having the divine complexion of your divine hair on your divine body! As said in thiruvAimozhi 4.8.1 “kURALum” (individually, enjoy and consider to be their own abodes) – [rudhra who is] having a portion in your divine form, having fire’s complexion. sarvESvaran’s divine form will be cool for our eyes; rudhra’s form will be like blazing fire making it invisible to our eyes. To have the three towns which are the capital of asuras destroyed, rudhra launched the mEru mountain like big bow, as said in mahAbhAratham karNa parvam “vishNurAthmA bhagavathO bhavasya amithathEjasa: thasmAth dhanurjyA samsparSam savishEhE mahESvara:” (The omnipresent vishNu is the antharyAmi for Siva who is infinitely valorous and worshippable; due to this fact, Siva was able to launch the arrow on the bow during the destruction of the three towns), bhagavAn entered the arrow and remained there as the power. What is the reason for this leelA? It is said in that SlOkam “vishNurAthmA” – because bhagavAn is the antharyAmi, he helps all, including dhEvathAs.
angu azhal niRa ambadhu – Oh one who entered as the sharpness of the arrow, destroyed the enemy and made sure that rudhra got the honours as in “rudhra performed this victorious act”!
ANdAy … – In my case, you don’t need to make me announce my greatness saying “I have performed this act”.
vENdEn … – You just need to eliminate the hurdles for my true nature and bestow the result matching my true nature.
