Simple translation

As krishNa, who was begotten by yaSOdhA after performing penance, mercifully consumed the butter, mother yaSOdhA became angry, threw the pestle which helps in churning the curd and bound him with small rope filled with knots; he remained there accepting that. Such sarvESvaran is present in the dhivyadhESam named thenthiruppEr which is surrounded by huge, firm forts. How amazing is it that I got uplifted by reciting the divine names of such bhagavAn who is having complexion like that of an ocean!

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

veNNey … – She performed penance thinking “The cow’s products should not go waste. We should have a child to enjoy these” and begot krishNa. Still, if krishNa ate too much which will lead to indigestion, it will not be accepted by them; as they continue to hide them from him, he develops more interest in them. He would not miss out on that which sustains him. As they churn the curd with so much difficulty and preserve the butter, he would take it and eat it.

veguNdu … – Became angry. Mother yaSOdhA desiring to hit him with the pestle, bound him with the rope which had many knots; the rope cannot be extended and hence his body needed to be shrunk to bind him down. She bound him in that manner.

vettu enRu irundhAn – Just as those who accept beatings saying “If you beat us considering us to be ordinary persons, we will accept all of those”, instead of beating and binding for any other reason, if they do it for stealing butter, he will accept it happily.

thiNNam … – In thenthiruppEr which is surrounded by forts which give protection.

vElai … – How amazing is it that I got uplifted by reciting the divine names which narrate the divine form of the one who has the form which is similar to ocean which eliminates ennui.
