Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kanai Ar … – The movement of the tongue of the blackish bell of a bull which is having very creaky, thunder like sound. As the bulls chase the cows, the bells ring, and this reminds how the hero chase her and she runs away from him. It is said in SrI rAmAyaNam ayOdhyA kANdam 43.12 “puraskruthya rathE sIthAm rushabhO gOvadhUmiva” (Placing Sita ahead of him in the chariot, just like a majestic bull proudly leading his young cow).
thinaiyEnum nillAdhu thIyil kodidhAlO – Not hesitating even a little bit, it became crueler than fire. It’s heat made us say “fire is like water”. Fire will heat the body, while this bell sound can enter inside and destroy.
punai Ar … – Just as saubhari assumed 50 forms and enjoyed, she desired to enjoy in each mansion which is made with precious gemstones. All of that is done.
vinaiyEn mEl vElaiyum – On me who is sinned to desire for what is not apt for me.
vElaiyum vem thazhalE vIsumE – Being bewildered that there is still something remaining in her after the torment of the sound, the waves stayed away so that it is not affected by her virahAgni (fire of separation) and blew the fire.
