I performed anjali towards thiruppullANi which is surrounded by dense ponds and orchards with flowers; I have lost my beautiful complexion and bangles.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
suzhanRilangu vem kadhirOn thErOdum pOy maRaindhAn – The hot sun comes around the mEru mountain and lights up; he disappeared along with his chariot. “suzhanRu” (revolving) is said according to jyOthiSchakram (astronomy). It is said in periya thirumozhi 8.5.2 “oLiyavan visumbiyangum thErum pOyiRRuth thisaigaLum maRaindhana seyvadhonRu aRiyEnE” (Sun in the sky has faded away; his chariot has disappeared; the directions have become void; I am not knowing as to what is to be done); just as a woman will keep looking out when her hero leaves, it appears that she was watching when sun leaves too.
azhanRu kodidhAgi am sudaril thAn adumAl – Here moon is said to be the one having beautiful rays. One who usually has cool rays has become different now and is tormenting us with hot rays.
sezhum thadam … – I was beautifully [foolishly] eager for him and I to play in the water, to rest on his lap as said in SrI rAmAyaNam sundhara kANdam 38.14 “thavAngE samupAviSam” (then rest on your lap) and play, by throwing flower-ball. As said in periya thirumozhi 9.3.6 “kaLLavizhum malark kAviyum” (sengazhunIr flowers which are oozing out honey), did we not have all our desires fulfilled? [speaking ironically]
izhandhirundhEn … – I desired to have my complexion shine doubly due to union with him and his ornaments to be on me, I lost everything just as a person desires for interest and ends up losing the capital itself.
