Simple translation

Oh servitors of bhagavAn! I have found a means to be uplifted; bhagavAn is having veera lakshmi (wealth of valour) on his divine chest due to destroying a few rAkshasas who were fearless previously, to become scared, to have his strong shoulder raise and to draw his bow; such emperumAn has identified thirukkaNNapuram to be the abode and became joyful having taken the great vow, remaining along with periya pirAttiyAr (SrI mahAlakshmi) who is having hair which is filled with beetles and SrI bhUmip pirAtti who is having sword-like sharp divine eyes. Let us worship such thirukkaNNapuram.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

thoNdIr – Oh those who are eager to engage in kainkaryams as said in thiruvAimozhi 3.3.1vazhuvilA adimai seyya vENdum” (We should engage in continuous kainkaryam)!

uyyum vagai kaNdEn – Leaving the state mentioned in thaiththirIya upanishath “asannEva sa bhavathi” (become as good as insentient), I have found a way to surrender unto him and be uplifted. When asked “What is that way?” AzhwAr says “kaNNapuram nAm thozhudhum” (Let us worship thirukkaNNapuram).

thuLangA arakkar thuLanga – Previously these rAkshasas would not know anything abour fear. To have that whole clan fear.

thiN thOL … – To have the shoulder which is unshakeable on hearing about the enemies, raise and to draw his bow.

siRidhE munindha – Instead of destroying the entire world, he showed anger only towards the rAkshasa clan. If the one who created everything with his sankalpam (vow) shows his anger, the entire universe will be destroyed [Yet, he did not destroy everyone].

thirumArban – One who has the divine chest which is the abode for veeraSrI.

vaNdAr … – We got to serve in that union of bhagavAn along with his consorts.

vaNdAr kUndhal malar mangai – periya pirAttiyAr who will mesmerise bhagavAn with her hair, so that he does not have scope to analyse the faults of those who worship him.

vadik kaN madandhai – SrI bhUmip pirAtti, who can flatten him just with his glance, without having the need for such beautiful hair.

mA nOkkam kaNdAy – As said in thiruvAimozhi 4.9.10oNdodiyAL  thirumagaLum nIyumE nilA niRpak kaNda sadhir” (after seeing the togetherness of you and the one who is having distinguished forearms with ornaments like bangles, the best among women, who is known as SrI due to being the collection of all wealth, and determined the best means), bhagavAn determined that for the protection of the people “I should remain together with my divine consorts” .

kaNdu koNdu … – He mercifully became joyful thinking that thirukkaNNapuram is the secluded abode for our union. Let us worship that abode.

In the next article we will enjoy the next pAsuram.
