Simple translation
bhagavAn is mercifully residing in the western side of thiruvazhundhUr which is filled with orchards which are having expansive flowers and being inhabited by swans permanently; on such bhagavAn, thirumangai AzhwAr, who is having shoulders which are having indestructible strength and is the controller of thiruvAli, and the king coming in the proper lineage of kings for the residents of thirumangai region, mercifully spoke this decad, which is a pure garland of words in beautiful thamizh language and is great, similar to a garland of faultless precious stones. Those who are able to recite these pAsurams, will remain as kings for a long time, protecting the worlds and blissfully remain beneath the whitish umbrella.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
annam mannum … – Having orchards which are having vast flower where swans are eternally residing. When swans have romantic fight, they can remain in the flower without getting close to each other – such is the vastness of the flowers there.
azhundhUr mEl thisai ninRa ammAnai – sarvESvaran who is greater than all and is standing in the western side of thiruvazhundhUr.
kanni mannu thiN thOL … – AzhwAr who is having shoulders which will never lose strength, is the one who controls thiruvAli region and is also the ancient king of the residents of thirumangai region.
sonna in thamizh … – This garland which is sweet to listen to and which is like a garland of precious stones. Those who are able to recite this decad which has no shortcomings in its poems.
manni mannavarAy – Being the king for a long time. They will get to control all the kingdoms and remain under a huge pearl umbrella and will become blissful. An important question is asked here “Why is AzhwAr, who feared being subdued by the senses, showing this wealth as the result?” periyavAchchAn piLLai quotes parASara bhattar’s words “For AzhwAr, even that wealth can be used to serve bhAgavathas and hence it will become part of his goal”.
