varuNan, the lord of oceans, sent a chain of pearls which had high radiance, and which had formed in the ocean with agitating waves, another chain made with highly pure corals, beautiful bracelets for the divine forearms and beautiful rings for the divine shoulders, thinking “These are of high value and would be apt [for krishNa]” Oh, one who has an effulgent crown! May you go to sleep. Oh, one who has beautiful shoulders! May you go to sleep.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
Odham … – chain strung with pearls obtained from ocean with agitating waves, along with a chain made with eminent corals, instead of artificial ones, to complement it. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that the chain was made with pearls which had resplendence and high quality, obtained from unfathomable ocean which had agitating waves. For sAdhip pavaLamum, he says that they have been strung in-between the pearls in such a manner that their shadow will fall on the pearls.
sandhach charivaLaiyum – beautiful bracelets and rings, apt for the divine hand.
mAdhakka … – varuNan sent these, which are very expensive, and which “Will be apt for him”.
sOdhi … – Oh, one who has the effulgent crown, which subtly hints that you are the supreme entity! May you go to sleep. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here: “Oh, one who has divine crown which is hinting about your supremacy, manifesting that you are the lord and is resplendent and one who has beautiful divine shoulders apt for that supremacy!”
sundharath thOLanE – Oh, one who has beautiful shoulders such that ornaments are superfluous for them! May you go to sleep.
