Reach the dhivyadhESam named thirunaRaiyUr where the mansions are embossed with precious gemstones and where the chOzha king, named sembiyan, who is having reddish eyes, is residing and who is the thamizh king of the southern, middle and northern regions, who is having the kingdom where the divine kAvEri river is rising with tumult, breaking the mountains and flowing, scattering gold and gathering and bringing the precious gemstones and scattering them on the banks and is spreading to the outside lands and all over the earth.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
anRulagam … – Placing all the three worlds under his divine feet and assumed an unseen form of narasimha in this world, and became victorious against hiraNya by tearing his body.
viNNulagu … – It is said that “hiraNya got vIra svargam having been killed by bhagavAn himself”.
virundhAvIr – Oh those who desire to become guests of bhagavAn!
mEl ezhundhu … – Rising with a tumult, breaking the mountains which are barriers, gathering the gold and the precious gemstones on those mountains and sahyam (the origin of the river), scattered them on the banks.
pulam … – By spreading in the outside lands, it consumes all the earth. ponni nAdan – One who has the kingdom around ponni (kAvEri).
then thamizhan … – Thus, he ruled all the 3 kingdoms. Since this king’s wealth was acquired by the mercy of bhagavAn, AzhwAr considers his rule to be as desirable as bhagavAn measuring the three worlds.
