Word-by-Word Meanings
AyppAdi Ayar – the herd-people in thiruvAyppAdi [SrI gOkulam]
uRiyai – vessels containing milk and curd, hung from the ceiling, through a network of ropes
muRRaththu urutti ninRu – bring them down and roll them over, on the courtyard
AduvAr – they will dance
naRu ney pAl thayir – fragrant ghee, milk and curd
nanRAga – without leaving behind anything
thUvuvAr – will offer to others as a gift [to celebrate krishNa’s birth]
seRimen – being close together and soft

aRivazhindhanar – lost their senses, not knowing as to what they should do and what they shouldn’t.
Simple Translation
As a result of their ecstasy on knowing about the birth of krishNa, the herd-people in SrI gOkulam would lose their senses, not knowing what they should and what they shouldn’t do. They would bring down vessels containing milk, curd etc which have been suspended from ceiling through a network of ropes, on to the courtyard and roll them on the floor. They would dance in joy. They would offer the fragrant ghee, milk, curd etc as gifts to others, without leaving behind anything. In their frenzied dancing, they would not even notice that their dense, soft locks had got untied.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
uRiyai muRRaththu urutti ninRu AduvAr – as an outlet for their happiness, they would bring down the fragrant ghee, milk, curd etc, not considering their immense value, which have been suspended from the ceiling in pots, through a network of ropes. They would roll the pots on their courtyards, spilling their contents and dance in unbounded joy.
naRu ney pAl thayir nanRAgath thUvuvAr – praying that their swAmy [lord] krishNa should get all benefits, they will offer the fragrant materials such as ghee, milk, curd etc as gifts to others.
seRi men kUndhal avizhath thiLaiththu – they would dance in such a frenzied manner that their dense, soft locks would get dishevelled completely
engum aRivu azhindhanar AyppAdi AyarE – thus, the herd-folk in SrI gOkulam, with happiness going over their heads, would lose their sense of what is the correct action to be done and what is not to be done. Some will dance on their courtyards, after bringing down vessels containing milk, curd etc. Some others will gift fragrant ghee etc to others, as a result of their happiness. Some others will not even know that their locks, which are dense and soft, have got dishevelled and continue to dance. All these are due to their loss of senses on what is to be done and what is not to be done.
They were herd-folk not because of their adoption or profession, but because of their birth [Hence they were in a celebratory frame of mind on knowing about krishNa’s birth].
