sIthAp pirAtti had expressed doubt about her existence, when hanuman was about to return to kishkindhA [from lankA], as said in SrI rAmAyaNam sundhara kANdam 39-22 “gathE hi hariSArdhUla punar AgamanAya thu l prANAnAmapi sandhEhO mama syAn nAthra samSaya: ll” (Oh, hanuman, the head of monkeys! Even though you are now going in order to return to this place, it is doubtful if I would exist [when you return]. There is no doubt in this). Just as sIthAp pirAtti had mentioned here about her being alive, ANdAL too had experienced that state of whether she would be able to sustain herself or not. sIthAp pirAtti had a messenger who could go there [where her beloved was located] and convey her message. ANdAL did not have any messenger who could go [to her beloved] and convey her message. In the previous thirumozhi (8th decad), the clouds, which she had ordained to go to thiruvEngadamudaiyAn and convey her message, did not move from that place and showered the rains which they had held. Due to those rains, flowers etc which appear during that season, started budding. Among them, some just started blossoming, some had already blossomed. These entities, with their beauty, started reminding ANdAL about the divine form of emperumAn as well as specific limbs such as eyes etc. Whichever material she saw, started torturing her. This 9th thirumozhi (divine words of ninth decad) mentions these. This stage developed further and the next [10th] decad speaks about how it became extremely difficult for her to sustain her life. Thus, these two divine decads, together, reveal the condition of ANdAL, much similar to the condition that befell nammAzhwAr in his thiruvAimozhi 9-5innuyuirchchEval”.

Next, we will consider the 1st pAsuram of this decad.
