Simple translation
Oh friend! This emperumAn’s divine form is appearing like gold; the garland, which is on his divine chest, which is having emerald’s pervading gentle radiance, appears like lightning; is he a brAhmaNa who recites sAma vEdham in his mouth? Is he a dhEvathA? He is mercifully glancing with his cool sight, seeing my waist region and glancing at my raised, youthful bosoms. I am scared about my mother seeing this; how amazing is this unique person’s beauty?
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
pon … – piLLai amudhanAr will explain this as “ponnivar” (He is gold); that is, explaining in the context of bhagavAn’s svarUpam (true nature) as said in thirunedundhaNdagam 1 “eNNum ponnuruvAy” (He is like gold and is ready to be meditated upon). Alternative explanation – Looking at his form, it appears like pure gold as said in thiruvAimozhi 3.1.2 “sutturaiththa nanpon un thirumEni oLi ovvAdhu” (the best molten gold that is prepared, does not compare to the collective radiance of your divine (spiritual) body/form), the divine form appears to be the best gold. When the ornaments are taken away and seen inside, one can see the golden form.
maradhagam … – The garland, which decorates the divine chest which is pervaded by the emerald’s vast radiance, appears like lightning.
ivar vAyil nal vEdham Odhum vEdhiyar – The words which emanate from his mouth happen to be sAma vEdham.
vAnavar – As said in SrI rAmAyaNam kishikindhA kANdam “rAjarishi dhEva prathimau” (Both of you look like sages and celestial beings), when his physical beauty is observed, he will be spoken of, as being equivalent to king. When his conduct is observed, he will be spoken of as being equivlent to brAhmaNas. When his supremacy is observed, he will be spoken of as being equivalent to celestial beings. There is no shortcoming in him. Your absence at that time is the shortcoming.
When the friend asks “If such great personality came and united with you, let me know what happened then; what did he do you? What did you do?” parakAla nAyaki says,
ennaiyum … – He is glancing at my intimate parts. He is not taking his eyes off me.
Friend asks “What did you do then?” she says
annai en nOkkum enRu anjuginREn – I am scared for my mother thinking that I am also a party to his glance.
achchO oruvar azhagiyavA – Let anything happen to emperumAn’s glance and my mother’s glance; see how beautiful he was at that time.
