pravESam
In the earlier thirumozhi [divine verses], AzhwAr had experienced emperumAn mercifully residing in azhagar thirumalai [thirumAlirum sOlai malai], with all the auspicious qualities and divine activities of SrI rAmAvathAram [incarnation as SrI rAma]and krishNAvathAram [incarnation as krishNa] shining brightly. Thinking “More than emperumAn, the divine mountain, where he has mercifully come with desire, is to be attained”, he spoke about the divine mountain in many ways and enjoyed. After enjoying all those, since he was not satisfied, he again speaks about the auspicious qualities and divine activities of incarnations, standing on the divine mountain. Instead of following the order in which he had mentioned in the earlier thirumozhi, he changes the order in this thirumozhi and enjoys in many ways. In the earlier thirumozhi, he spoke of the auspicious qualities and divine activities of SrI rAmAvathAram first and then krishNAvathAram; in this thirumozhi, he speaks of the auspicious qualities and divine activities of krishNAvathAram as well as those of other incarnations, seeing them all in azhagar [the divine name of emperumAn in thirumAlirum sOlai] and enjoys. Just as a person, who makes a string of pearls, knows where to keep various gemstones and increase the value of that string, AzhwAr, who has distinguished knowledge, through the manner of enjoying the auspicious qualities and divine activities, with distinction, brings in distinct enjoyment and sweetness. In the case of divine abode too [thirumAlirum sOlai], with difference in the manner of enjoyment, there will be distinction in the excellence of the one, who resides there [emperumAn]. This is the difference between the earlier thirumozhi and this.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that AzhwAr reminisces about the manner in which he had enjoyed the earlier thirumozhi. AzhwAr brings in a few metaphors, along with the divine activities of other incarnations and enjoys them in this thirumozhi.
