pravESam
In the earlier thirumozhi [divine verses, seen in 3.3.10], since yaSOdhAp pirAtti had told krishNa “Starting from tomorrow, do not go behind calves; decorate yourself and stay in the house”, he mercifully stayed for the next seven days. After celebrating the divine day of thiruvONam [krishNa’s birth-star], krishNa took the cows and calves for grazing. With the satisfaction of their grazing well, out of that happiness, he decorated himself in different manners. He returned with his thousand friends, who were alike him, playing on the flute, singing happily, with their pride manifesting clearly to all. Women in thiruvAyppAdi, desiring to look at the manner in which krishNa is returning, look through the window and keep standing. Some people warn them “Do not go in front of him and lose your bangles”. One lady says, “My daughter looked at the beauty of his divine form for a few moments; looking at that, the people are looking for reasons to link her with him”. Looking at the way that he is coming in the street, some girls, due to their affection for him, realise changes in their form, call those who have not seen him and show him to them. Some girls engage with his activities and become exclusive servitors for him. Some girls say “He had taken our ball when we were playing. When he returns, we will surround him and look at his coral-like mouth and smile”. Some others tell their mothers about how they saw him coming in the street and engaged with him, and how they have got changed. Thus, AzhwAr experiences all their pathos, which they develop on account of their deep love for krishNa. He too speaks about krishNa and becomes happy, in this thirumozhi [divine verses in 3.4 padhigam].
thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says that the girls in thiruvAyppAdi, due to overflowing affection for krishNa, see him returning with the cows and calves, along with his one thousand friends. They realise changes in them due to that, call out to one another, showing krishNa to them, warning girls not to go in front of him, and when those girls do not listen to their warning and still go in front of krishNa, see how they become thinned down. AzhwAr, utilising their pathos as a reason, enjoys their experience, and tells others the benefit which they would get if they also recite these pAsurams, with his pathos.
