Simple Translation

Mothers [from various houses in the herd-village] will go to other villages in order to sell buttermilk [keeping their daughters to guard the respective house]. Fathers will go behind young cattle, to graze them. You, waiting for the apt moment, would take the young girls to places which you think of. Oh, the young son of herd-clan, who roams around, being abused by those who see your activities, and making entities such as SiSupAla et al, who are furious towards you, to be always happy! I know now that you are the difficult-to-attain lord. I am afraid to give you [my bosom] milk.  

vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)

thAymAr … – Keeping their daughters to look after the houses, the mothers will go out to sell buttermilk. Though the herd-people had enough wealth, they consider that they have to earn their livelihood by selling buttermilk. Selling buttermilk inside the herd-village is difficult, since in all the five-lakh houses in that village, milking and churning would be a continuous affair. Hence, they have to go to surrounding villages to sell. This delay in their returning [to their houses] would be a reason for getting enough time, for krishNa.

thagappanmAr … – when the mothers go out to sell buttermilk, if the fathers were to remain in the houses, krishNa would not be able to carry out what he had thought of. To negate this, the fathers would have to go behind the herds of cattle. The cattle herds will go far away for grazing; these people, instead of controlling them, will go behind them, wherever they go. The cattle will return only when their stomachs are full. The fathers will return, only when the cattle return. Thus, this delay in their returning also gives krishNa the time that he needs.

nI AyppAdi iLam kannimArgaLai nErpadavE koNdu pOdhi – You would take the young girls of thiruvAyppAdi to the locations which you think of. In other words, to the places which you desire. While the mothers and fathers have already left, though their houses could be the desired places for krishNa, since “Someone could return by carelessness”, you have to seek other locations.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai, in his svApadhESam, says here that the girls were young on account of their age, their hands and their acts of righteousness in-line with the herd-clan. Through your activities of hinting to them, you would take them to the places which you desire.

kAyvArkku enRum ugappanavE seydhu – By indulging in such activities, you provide fodder to those, such as SiSupAla et al, who find fault with your auspicious qualities, who always have hatred towards you, to make them feel happy that “We have got enough space to despise krishNa”.

kaNdAr kazhaRath thiriyum AyA – Apart from those who find fault with you, there are also those who are good [favourable] towards you. Oh, the son of the herd-clan, who roams around, being controlled by such people who are unable to tolerate your mischievous deeds! This affirms that krishNa is not mindful of the limits of righteousness for the herd-clan.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that apart from kamsan and those who are totally dependent on him [his monster-friends], there are those who abuse you, treating your auspicious qualities as faults, such as SiSupAla et al. You make them happy through your activities such that they will forever keep ridiculing you.

unnai aRindhu koNdEn – You are roaming like this, and after seeing your activities which are beyond the capabilities of human species, I have to come to know that “You are not one among the human species”.

unakku … – Hence, I will be scared to give you [my bosom] milk.
