Simple translation
bhagavAn is mercifully residing in the cool thiruchchERai dhivyadhESam where the fragrance is emanating from the blue lily flowers which are pushed away by the farmers who are plucking out the weeds from the fertile fields which are having crops. See the way my heart is breaking down due to affection towards the bhAgavathas who keep such bhagavAn’s divine feet and meditate upon them daily. How did I, who am a thief who has stolen the AthmA [from bhagavAn, claiming it to be owned by me], who is having deceitful heart and who is always drowned in the great ocean of sorrow, every fraction of a moment, get this great benefit? I don’t know.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kaLLaththEn …. – As said in mahAbhAratham udhyOga parvam 42-35 “yO’nyathA santhamAthmAnam anyathA prathipadhyathE l kim thEna na krutham pApam chOrENAthmApahAriNA ll” (What sin has not been committed by one who covets AthmA thinking that it belongs to him, while it is the possession of bhagavAn?), I have stolen the AthmA since time immemorial. Even that, as said in thiruvAimozhi 5.1.3 “unnaiyum vanjikkum” (bewilder even you, who are a sarvagya), I concealed that even from my antharAthmA (in-dwelling supersoul, you), thinking that he will know if I did not conceal it. Due to doing this, I became drowned in the ocean of forgetfulness, continuously. It is also said as “ocean of sorrow”.
en kolO – For such me, how did this benefit come about! How did I get this benefit which is attained by those who surrender oneself to bhagavAn, have true love towards him and who always meditate upon him!
viLai vayal … – The blue lily flower which grew as weeds in the fertile fields were pushed away by the farmers. Due to that movement, the honey which was filled in those flowers came out flooding and the place is filled with its fragrance, in the cool thiruchchERai. For those who always keep that bhagavAn’s divine feet in their heart, see how my heart is breaking down; how did I get this benefit!
