Simple Translation
Oh, one who looks like a garland, strung with flowers whose inner petals are visible! Oh, one who has eyes which are like lotus flowers and who is like an obedient deer! Bowing down at your highness’ divine feet, I shall declare an information. Your highness should mercifully listen to it. At a place, when perumAL and your highness were together, sweetly, during night time, your highness had bound perumAL with an eminent garland of jasmine flowers. This is an identification.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
alliyam pU malark kOdhAy – Oh, one who is like a garland, which has been strung with beautiful flowers whose inner petals are visible! This describes the thinness, the tenderness and withering of pirAtti’s form.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that hanuman addresses her as kOdhAy [one, who is like a garland], since she was revealing her good heart.
adi paNindhEn viNNappam – In line with my svarUpam [my basic nature which is one of servitude and total dependence], by bowing down at your highness’ divine feet, I have the fortune of realising the purpose of having been given a head. There is another activity, by which I could realise the purpose of having been given a mouth. After seeing pirAtti’s divine grace, expressing her affection for him and showing the desire to listen to him, he says …
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that once pirAtti heard these words, her divine mind was pleased and was protective towards him, just like a mother is towards her son. Hence, he calls her as madamAnE. Alternatively, this term would also refer to the two eyes of a deer which are a match for each other.
thuNai malarkkaN madamAnE sollugEn kEttaruLAy – Your highness is showering your highness’ grace on me, manifesting your highness’ motherly forbearance towards me. Oh, one who is like a deer, with the two eyes which are like flowers and having obedience like the deer! I shall reveal that appeal, please mercifully listen to that. He reveals this, subsequently.

thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that pirAtti was on one side of the bed and perumAL was on the other side, and this bed was unique.
malligai … – Your highness had bound perumAL with a distinguished garland of jasmine flowers, and this too is an identification. This is about an incident when perumAL, propelled by his dependence on pirAtti on account of his affection towards her, allowed to be bound, leading to their enjoyment. Thus, unlike the other identifications [which hanuman has already revealed and would be revealing later], this is an identification which is very secretive. Only perumAL and pirAtti are privy to this. This is in line with SrI rAmAyaNam sundhara kANdam 33.17 “samA dhvAdhaSa thathrAham rAghavasya nivEsanE l punjAnAmAnushAn bhOgAn sarva kAma samrudhdhinI” (After our marriage, in the palace of SrI rAma, I had all my desires fulfilled, experiencing enjoyments, beyond human species, for twelve years).
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that jasmine flower emits fragrance even at a far distance. With such a garland, pirAtti tied perumAL’s hands and perumAL too tied pirAtti’s hands. This incident was unknown even to iLaiya perumAL [lakshmaNa]. sIthAp pirAtti says “Due to the efforts of my father-in-law [dhaSaratha chakravarthi], the hurdle which came our way, when we were returning to ayOdhyA after our marriage, was removed and I was able to be with perumAL, for some time, in his bed”. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says that this tying each other with jasmine garland is typical of thamizh culture where the couple would decorate each other with the garland.
