Oh, one who is mercifully present in my heart, remaining fixed! Oh, one who is having divine dark complexion! Oh, one who is having radiance and complexion like that of a cloud! Oh, one who knows the meaning of chAndhOgya upanishath! Oh, one who knows the meaning of bruhadhAraNyaka upanishath! Oh, one who knows the meaning of thaiththirIya upanishath! Oh, one who knows the meaning of sAma vEdham! Oh, the greatest one having supremacy! Oh, lord who is mercifully residing in the western side of thiruvazhundhUr! I don’t know of any refuge other that your divine feet. Alas!
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
pandhAr … – Even while uniting with sarvESvaran, she is having a ball in her hand and the fingers which are so tender to even hold that ball.
nal vaLaith thOLi … – You came along with periya pirAttiyAr who is having divine shoulders which are decorated with beautiful bangles, having natural femininity and having lotus flower as her residence. As said in periyAzhwAr thirumozhi 5.2.10 “aravindhap pAvaiyum thAnum” (bhagavAn along with SrI mahAlakshmi who is seated on a lotus flower), he came with his paraphernalia and entered my heart.
en manaththE manni ninRAy – As I did not reject you, being melted by your arrival in this manner, you entered my heart as said in SrI rAmAyaNam AraNya kANdam 5.34 “AvAsam thvahamichchAmi prathishtam iha kAnanE” (As I am looking for a place to say, I will live in this forest as you desire).
mAl vaNNA – Oh, one who has a dark complexion!
mazhai pOl oLi vaNNA – Not just having a dark complexion, but also, you are having a form which is cool like cloud.
chandhOgA … – One who is having omniscience which is required to protect the ones who are suffering. With this, it is said “Oh, one who knows the meaning of the vEdham truthfully!”.
nedumAlE – Oh one who is having the supremacy which is spoken of by those vEdhams.
andhO … – You cannot remain peacefully thinking that there are others who can protect and they will protect us; I, who am refugeless, have no other refuge than your divine feet.
azhundhUr mEl thisai ninRa ammAnE – Haven’t your highness arrived here to protect those who have no other refuge?
