In the previous decad, AzhwAr said “adiyEn kaNdu koNdu kaLiththEn” (I, the servitor, got to see and became blissful); that joy did not last long; he started thinking as to how his sese organs are tormenting him by remaining close to him and became fearful. He experienced the same torment experienced by nammAzhwAr in thiruvAimozhi 7.1 “uNNilAviya” and firmly believed that there is no remedy for this other than surrendering unto his divine feet; hence he surrenders unto his divine feet by first approaching pirAtti who is purushakAra bhUthai (recommendation authority), identifying his ananyagathithvam (lack of any other refuge).
