Oh, complete one who is mercifully residing in thirunaRaiyUr which is eternally inhabited by periya pirAttiyAr who is having the gait of a swan and is having a heart filled with mercy! Oh, strong one who severed and knocked down the thousand shoulders of kArthavIryArjuna to frighten the kings! I will not agree for you to enter the heart of an outsider and remain there after leaving my heart where you have been continuously residing. I stopped you (from going).

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

man anja … – ISvaran who entered and remained in AzhwAr’s heart, thought about leaving. AzhwAr is not allowing that. emperumAn asks “How can you not allow me? Can you argue with me and win over for you? I have the great strength of destroying twenty one generations of kshathriyas (kings)” AzhwAr says “That is fine. Would you not react and interact based on each one’s nature?” Oh one who severed the thousand shoulders of sahasra bAhu arjuna who was the leader of all the kings to frighten them! I am neither the one who would say that there will be obstacles for the actions you set out to do nor I would reject your strength. Still would you not interact with each person according to their nature?

en nenjaththu uL irundhu … – Entering my heart where I don’t know anything other than you. I will not let you go to someone’s heart where that person allows you to leave his/her heart.

If bhagavAn says “Even if you don’t allow, I cannot avoid (leaving)” AzhwAr says

vaLaiththu vaiththEn – AzhwAr is saying “I will die if you leave”. If he would lose AzhwAr, he will not take another step.

bhagavAn asks “With which strength are you stopping me?” AzhwAr says

nal nenja annam mannum naRaiyUr ninRa nambIyO – When you try to find fault in me and abandon me, isn’t the one who would say as in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 116-45 “nakaSchin nAparAdhyathi” (there is none who has not committed a wrongful deed) residing in proximity?
