Simple Translation
The divine mother yaSOdhAp pirAtti, while feeding her son krishNa, who has the complexion of an uproarious ocean, with her bosom milk, thought of a deceptive act. Without losing track of her thoughts, she tied krishNa with an often-used rope. She calls her friends who are wearing radiant bangles to come and have a look at krishNa’s divine stomach.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
adhirum kadal niRa vaNNanai – one who has the attractive complexion of an uproarious ocean. While it was sufficient to say “One who has the complexion of an ocean”, the mention of “uproarious ocean” is to refer to his uncontrollable behaviour.
Aychchi madhura mulai Utti vanjiththu vaiththu – yaSOdhA, his mother, even while suckling him with her sweet milk, had thought of a deceptive plan to tie him, without krishNa being aware of it. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that since she had planned to tie him, until she unties and releases him, to provide him sustenance, she suckled him. Since she wanted krishNa to enjoy the taste of her milk, she had eaten tasty food items, as a result of which her milk became sweet.
padhara … – without losing track of her thoughts, she tied him with a rope which was used often to tie cows and calves. She calls her friends to come and have a look at his divine stomach which carries the mark of the rope, which she had used to tie him.
oLi vLaiyIr vandhu kANIrE – oh, you all, who are wearing radiant bangles! Come and have a look at his divine stomach. thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that oLi vaLai is symbolic of belonging only to emperumAn and to none else.
