dhEvathAs gathered and came saying “Oh amazing person who tore the mouth of dhantha vakran, in the past!” and prayed “Mercifully give your protection for us”; as they did that, bhagavAn in the form of narasimha, laughed, grew big and tore hiraNya with his nails and felt joyful. I reached the divine feet of the lord of thiruppEr who is the SrImAn (the consort of SrI mahAlakshmi) and got uplifted.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
vakkaran … – An asura named dhantha vakran tormented all the dhEvathAs and was roaming around in that manner. Saying “Oh one who is having amazing ability to tear his mouth effortlessly!”
vAnOr – All the dhEvathAs gathered together and came and requested “You should mercifully give us a refuge”.
pon AgaththAnai – hiraNya. Assuming the form of a narasimha (human-lion form), laughed, growing big, he tore with his divine nails, and became joyful thinking “prahlAdhan’s hurdle is gone now”.
sakkarach chelvan – hiraNya’s body was not sufficient enough for bhagavAn’s divine nails. Further the divine chakra is just present for decoraton.
thenpEr … – How amazing is it that I have become uplifted after surrendering unto sarvESvaran who is greater than all and is eternally residing in thenthiruppEr!
