Simple translation

bhagavAn is having shining divine chakra and SrI pAnchajanyam in his divine hands; he is having beautiful complexion like that of a dark cloud; he is not having any falsity; he reveals these aspects to his devotees; he makes those who surrender unto his divine feet to be his servitors; in the beautiful dhivyadhESam named thiruppEr, which is having orchards with tall and dense lotus flowers which blossom in farmland, such sarvESvaran is having thiruvananthAzhwAn with expansive hoods, as his mattress. How amazing is it that I recited his divine names and the way I got uplifted!

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

It is said both as “kai ilangu Azhi sangan karumugil thiruniRaththan” and as “kai ilangu Azhi sangam karumugil thiruniRaththan“.

kai ilangu Azhi sangan karumugil thiruniRaththan – In the divine hands which are so beautiful on their own and should be rid of dhrushti (evil eyes), he is having the shining thiruvAzhi and SrI pAnchajanyam.

karumugil thiruniRaththan – As said in thiruppAvai 4 Azhi pOl minni” (Shining like the chakra), the combination of the divine weapons with bhagavAn’s divine form appears like lightning with a cloud.

poy ilan – In the greatness of being different from all other entities, there is no doubt of exaggeration.

meyyan – All of these are held by bhagavAn for the sake of his devotees as said in jithanthA sthOthram “bhakthAnAm” – this remains the truth.

than thAL … – As said in yajur vEdham “dhEhi mE dhadhAmi thE” (you grant me something and I will do something for you), instead of getting some benefits and leaving, towards those who surrender exclusively unto his divine feet, he will engage them in eternal servitude instead of giving some benefits and sending them off.

sey alar – As they plant paddy seeds in the farmlands, they yield lotus flowers. In thenthiruppEr which is having the blossomed lotus flowers which are tall and dense orchards, bhagavAn is having thiruvananthAzhwAn who is having expanded hoods due to the joy from the eternal enjoyment of sarvESvaran, as his mattress. His divine name.

paravi nAn uyndha ARE – If we go to paramapadham, the words which are spoken out of joy as said in thaiththirIya upanishath “aham annam aham annam” (I am enjoyed by him, I am enjoyed by him) and thaiththirIya upanishath “saha brahmaNA” (Enjoy bhagavAn’s qualities, being together with him), are said here in this dhivyadhESam after arriving here. What a life I have attained!

In the next article we will enjoy the next pAsuram.
