Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
nAttinAy ennai unakku mun thoNdAga – At first, you did this – you said “establish him as my servitor”. The first good deed you did towards me was – you said “establish him as my servitor”.
mAttinEn … – I too, having that as a hold, due to becoming part of your royal clan, eliminated the sins which were accumulated since time immemorial and were done intentionally, completely along with their trace.
pAttinAl … – Did I just get relieved of my obstacles? I also attained the kainkaryam which is attained after the obstacles are gone. I got to do vAchika adimai (kainkaryam by speech). Looking at the eminence of my songs, this could not have been sung by my efforts. Knowing that there is someone remaining in me and making me sing, you announced your presence in my heart.
kaNNapuram … – This is the mukkOttai which made him sing. [In kEraLam, there is a famous mUkAmbikA kshEtram which makes those who meditate upon it, to sing poems. Similarly, thirukkaNNapuram made AzhwAr sing these prabandhams].
