Simple Translation
emperumAn, who has the divine complexion of a dark ocean, resides desirously in thirumAlirum sOlai, which is decorated with gardens having marudha trees. periyAzhwAr, who is the leader of SrI villibuththUr, has the vow of only praising such emperumAn. Those, who recite these pAsurams, which have been mercifully composed by such periyAzhwAr, will get to see the divine feet of krishNa.
vyAkhyAnam (Commentary)
marudham … – the divine mountain, which is decorated with gardens, having marudha trees and which has the divine name thirumAlirum sOlai. The word thannai emphasises the overflowing enjoyable nature of the mountain.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says, in his svApadhESam, that carrying out mangaLASAsanam, which is his basic nature, is AzhwAr’s vow. While samsAris [those who live in samsAram, the materialistic realm] hold on to worldly pursuits and give up emperumAn or holding on to him, and asking him to get rid of their worldly pursuits, for periyAzhwAr, the vratham, which is in the form of carrying out mangaLASAsanam, is to break krishNa’s vratham of “thEyththuk kidakka nAn ottEn” [I will not agree for you to give me a bath].
karudhi uRaiginRa – desiring this mountain more than nithya vibhUthi [SrI vaikuNtam] as his abode for residing. Just as it has been mentioned in thiruvAimozhi 10.7.4 “nangaL kunRam kaividAn” (emperumAn will not abandon this mountain, which is enjoyable for people like us), residing permanently.
kArkkadal vaNNan ammAn thannai – the lord, who is having the divine complexion of a dark ocean, which removes the ennui of beholders
viradham … – mercifully composed by periyAzhwAr, in SrI villibuththUr, who has the vratham (vow) of carrying out mangaLASAsanam, which is the manifestation of his servitorship. Alternatively, just as it has been mentioned in periya thirumozhi 4.9.5 “adiyOmukkE emperumAn alleerO nIr” (Aren’t you the lord for us?), since archAvathAram [emperumAn residing in the form of idols in divine abodes] is a distinguished form of emperumAn, AzhwAr determined to praise that. Having this as his vow, he praises emperumAn through mangaLASAsanam.
karuydhi uraippavar – those who recite, meditating on these pAsurams with the pathos of AzhwAr.
kaNNan kazhaliNai kANbargaLE – they will get to see and enjoy the divine feet of krishNa, who is the easy-to-attain lord.
thiruvAimozhip piLLai says here that those who meditate on these pAsurams, with the pathos of periyAzhwAr, will get to see the divine feet of krishNa, saying as in thiruppallANdu 1 “un sEvadi sevvith thirukkAppu” (May your divine feet, which are always fresh, be protected forever).
