Those who are able to learn/recite these ten pAsurams will live a good life for a long time on this earth which is surrounded by ocean.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kArmali kaNNapuraththu em adigaLai – The abode is being inhabited and roamed around by rejuvenating, beautiful, helpful clouds.
em adigaLai – Just as those clouds, my lord is having a beautiful form, easily approachable, very generous, who makes thunder fall upon the heads of those who are unfavourable towards him; those who do not surrender unto him as said in SrI rAmAyaNam kishkindhA kANdam 4.12 “guNairdhAsyam upAgatha:” (I am serving him, being overwhelmed by his qualities says lakshmaNa about SrI rAma), are not the lords for my clan [that is, those who surrender unto him due to the eternal relationship, irrespective of his qualities, are the lords for my clan].
pAr mali mangaiyar kOn parakAlan sol – Wherever more than one person gathers together in this world, they will glorify him saying “How deeply immersed he is? How great a poet he is? Are sages a match for him? Are vEdhams a match for him? Are the other AzhwArs a match for him?” – Having such great fame. “parakAlan” is his name.
sIr mali pAdal ivai paththum vallavar – Just as a field of crop which gives unlimited yield which cannot be stored in specific sized storage areas, the words are less in these pAsurams but bhagavAn’s qualities are abundant. AzhwAr is saying “ivai paththum” (these ten) as if placing them in his hands and seeing them.
vallavar – Those who are experts in the words or the tune, either of them.
nIr mali vaiyaththu nIdu niRpArgaLE – Will get to live a good life in this world, surrounded by ocean, for a long time. When asked “Is the result of learning these pAsurams, life in this samsAram?” The answer is – There are no “theLLiyIr” (wise) in paramapadham; aren’t they present here only? As said in SrI rAmAyaNam uththara kANdam 40.14 “bhAvO nAnyathra gachchathi” (My heart will not think about anything else), thiruvadi (hanumAn) heard SrI rAma’s qualities, being perfect, and he remained in SrI ayOdhyA. Similarly those who learn these pAsurams, will listen to the songs of theLLiyIr and remain here perfectly.
In the next article we will enjoy the next pAsuram.
