Simple Translation
kulaSEkhara AzhwAr, who has the regal, white coloured umbrella and who holds the spear which is engaged in killing [enemies], mercifully composed ten pAsurams in thamizh which are lullabies sung by SrI kausalyai on the divine son of chakravarthi (dhaSarathan), SrI rAma. SrI rAma is residing in thirukkaNNapuram which is fortified with walls which are surrounding on all four sides, which are indestructible, great, beautiful and huge. Those who learn these ten pAsurams will be devotees of that SrI rAma, and are qualified to enjoy him.
vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
kanni nal mAmadhiL sUzh kaNapuraththu en kAguththan – emperumAn who is mercifully in the standing posture in thirukkaNNapuram which is surrounded on all the sides by indestructible, great, beautiful and huge fortified walls. Even though the perumAL, who has mercifully come and taken residence in thirukkaNNapuram, is kaNNan only, AzhwAr recited these pAsurams on emperumAn assuming him to be SrI rAman only and not as kaNNan.
thannadi mEl thAlElO enRu uraiththa thamizh mAlai – the lullabies sung by SrI kausalyA dhEvi on her son, SrI rAman, in his infant days, which AzhwAr composed as thamizh songs on thirukkaNNapuram emperumAn.
kol navilum vEl valavan kudai kulasEkaran sonna – the manner in which AzhwAr held the spear will make people exclaim “How cruel is the spear in destroying his enemies!”, along with the regal white umbrella which indicates that he is the king of all kings. Songs composed by such kulaSEkhara AzhwAr.
panniya nUl paththum vallAr – those who are experts in learning these pAsurams which have spread far and wide in thamizh speaking world, and which do not have any deficiency.
pAngAya paththargaLE – they will get to enjoy emperumAn in the same manner as kausalyA dhEvi did, as a mother and kulaSEkhara AzhwAr did, as a servitor.
Next, we shall take up the pravESam of the 9th decad.
