perumAL thirumozhi is a dhivyaprabandham mercifully composed by kulaSEkhara AzhwAr, consisting of 105 pAsurams, in ten decads. It forms part of mudhal Ayiram, and comes after nAchchiyAr thirumozhi.

kulaSEkhara AzhwAr came after nammAzhwAr, in the lineage of AzhwArs. He was born in chEra nAdu, in a place called thiruvanjikkaLam. He became the king of chEra nAdu after his father, dhrudavruthan, desiring to take up vanavASam (living in the forest), crowned him as the king. Even as a prince, he won over chOzha and pANdiya kings and became a king among kings.

He was deeply devoted to SrI rAma pirAn (lord) and spent his time in listening to SrI rAmAyaNam. He was very desirous of going to SrI rangam for a long time. When he went finally, he spent lot of time there, constructing several structures in the temple. He gave his daughter in marriage to namperumAL and became emperumAn’s father-in-law, a title which periyAzhwAr too attained, after kulaSEkhara AzhwAr.

In the subsequent articles, we will enjoy this prabandam, the vyAkyAnam for which was mercifully written by paramakArunIkar (most merciful) periyavAchchAn piLLai.
