Simple translation
Oh one who is mercifully present in thiruvindhaLUr dhivyadhESam! Our ancestors, for seven generations, stood firmly saying “being the lord of mine, my father, his father”, accepting and arriving to do kainkaryam; on our matters, you are analysing (to not show yourself) in our matters only. You are present in my heart for a very long time. Still, you are not showing your divine form, even a little bit, as having such nature.
Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)
endhai … – For us, who identify you to be the lord of our clan, for seven generations living without being able to sustain ourselves without kainkaryam at your divine feet, you are hesitating in this manner.
sindhai thannuL mundhi niRRIr – piLLAn would say “Why are you, who are remaining far to be embraced by me, are increasing my love towards you?” emperumAn asks “Why are you speaking like this? What partiality did I show towards others?” AzhwAr says “Instead of remaining satisfied thinking that shining in AzhwAr’s heart is sufficient, you should be reachable by my hand to embrace you just as you are shining in my heart. Or, you should not shine in my heart just as you are not reachable for an embrace. Both are not happening”.
siRidhum – Just as he is showing inside the heart without any shortcoming, he is not showing anything to the eyes. Previously, a king was too involved with his queen and did not present himself to the kingdom, many citizens were doubting his existence; the ministers went to the king’s private quarters and called out and the king showed his feet through the windows. [At least you can do like that].
indhaLUrIrE – You have come and are standing in thiruvindhaLUr to fully show your divine form which is shown to nithyasUris, apart from shining in the heart.
