thirumangai AzhwAr who is having great anger towards enemies and the spear to destroy such enemies, mercifully spoke these ten pAsurams each of which is a garland, saying “My daughter is like a beautiful creeper; while I, her mother, am suffering and having my stomach burn, went without the company of anyone like her, she, has the one who is bewildered due to more love than she, as her company; will they or will they not  enter thiruvAli which has abundance of water?” For those who can recite this decad with heart’s involvement, the leader of the residents of paramapadham, is the protector.

Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

thAy manam … – thirumangai AzhwAr who is having attachment towards bhagavath vishayam, great anger towards enemies and the spear to destroy such enemies, mercifully spoke these ten pAsurams where he speaks as the divine mother of parakAla nAyaki instead of parakAla nAyaki herself saying “While I, the mother, am suffering with my stomach burning, will my distinguished daughter, who went along with the one who is more bewildered than she due to his great love,  enter thiruvAli?”

paththum mEviya nenjudaiyAr thanjamAvadhu viNNulagE – For those who can learn this decad with heart’s involvement, reaching paramapadham is certain. One need not go as in the case of parakAla nAyaki where her mother was fearing for her lone travel, but can go where one is led by bhagavAn himself along with group of AthivAhikas (Those who can travel between different planets).

In the next article we will enjoy the next pAsuram.
